Description Primary Purpose
The primary purpose of this corporation is to serve as a certification and inspection body for food and food products, and agricultural inputs (e.g. fertilizer, pesticide, feeds, etc) to cater the agriculture industry and the consumers of certified products.
Brief History
OCCP as an inspection and certification body was established as a distinct and independent organization from the original Organic Certification Center of the Philippines to comply with ISO 17065 requirements. It has relinquished its role as a membership organization, which advocates for and conducts trainings on organic farming and organic certification. The Organic Certification Center of the Philippines (OCCP) was previously registered as a non-stock corporation under the SEC in 2002.
The personnel (i.e. technical and administrative staff) from the original company were transferred to the new Corporation to maintain the competence of the organization to perform organic certification services. The transfer also includes the contractual arrangements the original company has with its clients. The new OCCP Corporation has now focused its activities to inspection and certification services, expanding to fields outside of organic certification.
